Blogger Burnout

  • Bloggers have a short life.  Not in terms of years on Earth, but how long they continue to blog.  The novice gets pretty excited to communicate her/his thoughts, knowledge and nonsense.  Initially  the blogger leaves the computer on all night, just in case there is a triumphal thought that must be given immortality at 2am.
  • A blogger on the markets has a distinct advantage over idea-dumping blogs; the market gives all these numbers and charts and estimates and investment philosophy.  The market blogger has a cornucopia of data from which to draw.  And hence, to drown out a blog.
  • In mid-life of blogging the author begins to resent interruptions.  Like; take out the garbage, want to take a walk, are you still up there, are you coming to bed, do you have any idea how long its been since we kissed?
  • I was recently elected to the Board of our community.  I have resigned as president of our little, 25-house, HOA to take on these larger responsibilities. The new job is for our large development: about 3000 acres, 1400 lots, 1300 houses, dozens of ponds, 45 holes of golf at the club, miles upon miles of streets, 400 street lamps, maybe 60 full-time maintenance people,  miles of Intracoastal waterway exposure, our own police, 40 vehicles, dozens of lawnmowers, $5 million budget just for maintenance, $1.2 million contingency fund, etc, etc.  All this stuff has to be watched, planned for, replaced, inventoried, fixed and paid for.
  • So, together with my new responsibilities and general blogger burnout I am going to reduce the number of my published blogs.
  • If my duties allows I will still churn out some ideas, from time to time.  And, I hope you will enjoy those.  Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind.
  • I have enjoyed this run and trust you have, as well.  Thank you for being so loyal.

It is a beautiful spring evening here; cool but clear.  The red-buds, cherry trees, and the first azaleas are abloom.   Everyone is putting down fresh mulch around their ornamental plants and you can smell spring.  I am going for a walk and enjoy it.
