Same old, same old

  • Perhaps most discouraging is the report of technology start ups being closed.  The start-up has given this country the fulfillment of its entrepreneurial spirit.  It has invigorated business, it has increased our knowledge base, it makes smarter people simply by being schooled better, and it creates products and services that makes business and life easier, more interesting and more profitable.  We will never know just how clever a particular product or service was meant to be.
  • Next we will hear of a reduction in patent applications.  Without innovation you die, right?  Is that where we are headed?
  • Sold my small FPL position for a 6% loss.  Had hoped to hold on for the measly 3.5% dividend.
  • Am going down to two or four positions.  I’ll go back to what worked for me last year: going with the daily trend.
  • The S&P has gone through 822 like butter.  Should it close below that we could see much lower prices. Of course, we will get daily rallies as the “overbought/oversold” crowd takes advantage of technical anomalies.  I aim to be one of the crowd.
