Market holding gains. Lets see if it can get through the troubling 2:30 to 4:00pm period. That will be the test. If momentum can be built into the close we could have a strong week.
Some of the stocks I have been looking at and/or adding to are up as much as 50% over the last three weeks. That makes for a tricky commitment of new cash. For many investors a lazy portfolio may be the way to go. You can use ETFs, non-managed portfolios covering specific sectors or entire markets. Using ETFs also satisfies the Random Walkers…..those who feel that active portfolio managers add little over a market cycle.
Here is a lazy portfolio I came across in the Seeking Alpha site using Vanguard ETFs:
40%-Total Market (VTI);
30%-Euro Pacific (VEA);
5%-Emerging Market (VWO);
5%-Total Bond (BND);
5%-REITs (VNQ);
5%-Commodities (DJP).
The total blended expense ratio for the portfolio is less that 0.15. Darn cheap.
