The Texas Board of Education is preparing to vote on teaching creationism in schools. The board chairman has said he believes that humans have been on earth for only 10,000 years. The vote would evidently urge teachers to sway students into this belief. If approved it is not clear how this will work in practice. The Texas school system is so huge that the text books approved by the Board tend to be used in other states. So, as Texas goes so may the US.
